Uniforms
The Scout uniform helps to achieve the Objectives of Scouting.  The uniform by itself can not make
a good Scout or a good Troop, but its use has been proven to improve both the Scout and the Troop
because it is a visible symbol of Scouting and unity.  Each Scout is required to have and wear, within
a reasonable amount of time after joining the Troop, the following uniform items:

Field or "Class A" Uniform
  • Tan scout shirt with appropriate insignia and patches (Long Beach Area Council strip, red
    shoulder loops, and patrol emblem.)
  • Troop number (obtained from Troop)
  • Troop 224 neckerchief (obtained from Troop)
  • Neckerchief slide (can be purchased or made by Scout).
  • Olive Scout pants or shorts.
  • Boy Scout socks
  • Boy Scout hat
  • Scout web belt and buckle.
  • Tennis shoes or hiking boots.  Socks are required.

This uniform is to be worn when arriving and leaving official Scout events, traveling as a unit, Troop Meetings, and for Boards of Review

Activity or "Class B" Uniform:
(worn as instructed by Troop leadership or when activities may cause damage to the field uniform)
  • Troop 224 T-Shirt (purchase from Troop 224)
  • Boy Scout Hat
  • Tennis shoes or hiking boots.  Socks are required.
  • Scout pants or shorts.
  • Boy Scout socks
This uniform is worn for service projects, and to change into after arrival at camp, and for Patrol meetings and informal events.

Formal Uniform:
All of Class "A" including merit badge sash and official red and olive Boy Scout hat, red and white neckerchief and official Boy Scout slide.

This uniform is for Flag Ceremonies and all Courts of Honor.

WHEN IN DOUBT ABOUT WHICH UNIFORM TO WEAR, WEAR YOUR CLASS "A"!!!!

Uniforms and insignia are worn a certain way.  The Troop Leaders and staff at the Scout Shops will be able to answer any questions you might have on where to put what badge.  Inside the cover of the handbook there are guides for badge placement.
